Burnout, depression – an amazing discovery

Jocelyn Demers The effects of Sound Scan technology were first observed in Montreal, on November 5 1992 by Jocelyn Demers following the miscalibration of a biofeedback system. A client, who at the time was undergoing a relaxation session, experienced an intense emotional moment brought on by the sudden recollection of forgotten childhood memories. After additional sessions with similar results, the client was able to identify the origin of the problems for which he had consulted therapists without success for many years.

This surprising discovery led to numerous experiments with the goal of replicating the phenomenon as well as optimizing its therapeutic effects. Much of the work concentrated on the ideal parameters for a session i.e. session length, intensity, frequency, texture of the sound and vibration effects. The outcome of these experiments led to the development of a highly specialized series of soundtracks capable of reproducing the effects of Sound Resonance.

Because of the treatment’s penetrating effect on an individual’s memory and the phenomenal quantity of significant events thus identified, the therapeutic approach was modified and specially adapted. This new centeral method then served as a rapid cure for an ensemble of psychological disorders, such as burnout, depression, anxiety and phobia. Numerous testimonials gathered over the past 10 years can attest to this fact.

In January 1994, Claude Breault PhD, psycho-physiologist, started a full time research project at the center. He undertook to understand the phenomenon and to provide a scientific framework for the method. He gathered over 300,000 statistics, wrote two research reports and identified two scientific models to explain the phenomenon: the first is neurological and the second involves the theory of memory.

In June 1996, at the suggestion of a doctor who witnessed the notable positive physiological effects of the technique and with the consent of each participant, the Psycho Physio team began prospectively collecing information using validated and standardized questionnaires, on the process and benefits of treatment. This systematic follow-up has not only led to the development of a therapy specific to this clientele but has, in fact, shown that the benefits obtained using this therapy are sustained over time.
